For over 20 years, I have studied, trained and practiced medicine in the metro Detroit area. After receiving my B.S. from the University of Michigan in 1993, I began medical school at Wayne State University where I received honors upon graduating in 1997. Then, for six years I stayed at Wayne State completing a urology residency. Next, I went to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center for a one-year fellowship specializing in laparoscopic/robotic surgery and kidney stones. Since 2004, I have practiced at William Beaumont Hospital Royal Oak with Comprehensive Urology. I practice all aspects of urology, with an emphasis on stones and minimally invasive surgery. I enjoy this type of practice because I see how greatly patients benefit from new techniques and new technologies. As a metro Detroiter, I am proud to be able to provide the finest, state-of-the-art medical care for those of my community.
“Doctor” is a Latin word meaning “teacher”, and I take that to heart. In both in the hospital and office, I am often working with students or residents at my side, passing on my knowledge and experience to the next generation of physicians. But most importantly, I consider myself a teacher of patients. When patients leave my office, I ensure that they understand their condition and are aware of all the treatment options. This makes for wiser decision-making and greater trust between the doctor and patient. My patients feel they receive the time and attention they need from me, while being spoken to in language they can understand. When face-to-face with patients, I always keep in mind how I would like to be treated if the tables were turned. To me, there is no reason that patients should accept anything less than outstanding care from their doctor.
At work, my specific areas of interest are ureteroscopy and percutaneous nephrostolithotomy for complicated kidney stones, laparoscopic and robotic surgery for bladder, prostate and kidney cancer, cryotherapy for kidney and prostate cancer, active surveillance for low risk prostate cancer, robotic pyeloplasty for ureteropelvic junction obstruction, and urethroplasty for urethral stricture disease. In my free time, I enjoy staying active in sports and spending time with my wife, son and daughter.
