
Dr. Sirls graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School and completed urology residency training at Henry Ford Hospital. He completed specialty fellowship training in Male and Female Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery, Urodynamics, Female Urology, and Neurourology at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Los Angeles. He returned to Detroit in 1993 and has practiced exclusively at Beaumont Royal Oak since 1996.
Dr. Sirls is board certified and specializes in both male and female urinary problems including urinary leakage, patients needing routine or complicated pelvic surgery, vaginal prolapse, difficulty voiding, complicated problems like bladder fistula and urethral diverticulum and patients with neurologic disease who have urinary problems (stroke, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury, Parkinsons disease, etc.).
Dr. Sirls focuses on improving quality of life, after evaluation and treatment the patient should feel they are more satisfied and less bothered by their symptoms than before treatment. Dr. Sirls is the Director of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery, is a Professor at the Oakland University William Beaumont Medical School and is the Primary Investigator for the National Institutes of Health Urinary Incontinence Treatment Network, one of only 9 centers in the country selected to perform research on treatment options for urinary incontinence.
