Shetty, Sugandh D. M.D.

Dr. Sugandh Shetty is a Board certified Urologist practicing in Royal Oak since 2000. He graduated from Seth G.S. Medical College & King Edward Memorial Hospital of University of Bombay (Mumbai), India. After 5 years of postgraduate training and Board Certification in General surgery, Dr. Shetty was fortunate enough to have advance training in General surgery and Urology in United Kingdom culminating in Fellowships of Royal Colleges of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Glasgow. He is also a Diplomat of Urology from University of London, England. He completed a full Urology residency at Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit. He also completed a 2 year Urologic Oncology Fellowship at the Josephine Ford Cancer Center at the same institution.

After an extensive experience in Urologic Oncology, Dr. Shetty joined practice at Urology Specialists of Michigan and then Comprehensive Urology in Royal Oak. He is an expert at Robotic Urologic Oncology Procedures with an experience of 8 years. He has taught Robotic Procedures all over the country and abroad. Dr. Shetty’s philosophy is to offer individualized care starting with extensive preoperative counseling and compassionate postoperative care. Dr. Shetty is a member of American Urological association, Michigan Urology Society and Society of Robotic Surgery. Dr Shetty is an Investigator for National Cancer Institute and South West Oncology Group and a Fellow of American College of Surgeons. Dr. Shetty is certified by the American Board of Urology in 2000 and recertified in 2010. A lifelong student of art and science of Surgery, Dr. Shetty enjoys teaching, for which he has been recognized. Dr. Shetty has published extensively and is Associate Professor of Urology at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine.

Dr. Shetty is a community activist and was the President of Michigan Association of Physicians of Indian Origin in 2008 (MAPI). During his tenure, large amount of money was raised for Cancer Care and indigent health care through the foundation of MAPI. Dr. Shetty lives with his wife and 2 children in Novi, Michigan. He enjoys travelling, music, golf and tennis.
