Kaul, Sanjeev M.D.

Dr Sanjeev Kaul completed his medical education and surgery residency at K.E.M hospital, Mumbai and urology residency at Nair Hospital, Mumbai. He served as a lecturer at Grant Medical College and J.J Hospital in Mumbai before travelling to USA in 2002 where he completed a fellowship in Robotic Urologic Oncology at the Vattikuti Urology Institute in Detroit, USA under the guidance of Professor Mani Menon who is the pioneer of robotic surgery in the World. Dr Kaul has been practicing Robotic Surgery for prostate, kidney and bladder cancer since 2003 and has performed over 1400 robotic surgeries such as radical prostatectomy, radical and partial nephrectomy, radical cystectomy, pyeloplasty, ureteral reimplantation, RPLND etc. He is one of only two urologists in the world to have performed excision of a kidney cancer extending into the inferior vena cava with the robot. Dr Kaul along with his mentor Prof Menon pioneered several modifications for robotic radical prostatectomy including the technique of intrafasical nerve sparing (Veil of Aphrodite) for robotic prostatectomy and the use of barbed suture for robotic prostatectomy and partial nephrectomy which are now followed by urologists worldwide.

Dr Kaul has published over 50 original peer reviewed articles and book chapters on robotic surgery and been invited as a faculty to teach and demonstrate robotic surgery in several countries including USA, UK, Malaysia and India. He has received numerous awards for his robotic surgery techniques at international conferences such as American Urological Association and the European Robotic Urology Symposium. He has mentored urologists, vascular surgeons, gynecologists and colorectal surgeons in robotic surgery and is cited in Who’s Who in the World, Who’s Who in America and has been voted as one of America’s top robotic surgeons.

Dr Sanjeev Kaul is currently Associate Professor of Urology at Oakland University Medical School and William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak and Troy, Michigan, USA.
