Infertility

Approximately 15 percent of couples are unable to conceive a child after one year of timed, unprotected intercourse. A male factor is solely responsible in about 20 percent of infertile couples and 15 percent of couples are infertilecontributory in another 30 to 40 percent. A male infertility factor is usually defined by an abnormal semen analysis. When the semen analysis is normal, other male factors still may be present. It cannot be overemphasized that both partners of an infertile couple should be evaluated simultaneously.

The goal of male infertility evaluation is to identify the cause and treat accordingly. Sometimes medical treatment can help, but often surgical procedures are necessary to improve sperm counts or harvest sperm for procedures such as in vitro fertilization. We offer the following procedures/treatments related to male infertility:

  • Vasectomy
  • Vasectomy reversal
  • Varicocelectomy
  • Sperm retrieval techniques
