Dr. Kotha received his bachelor’s degree in biological sciences from Cornell University. Prior to enrolling in medical school, he received a master’s degree in medical sciences from Boston University School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York (SUNY) Health Science Center at Syracuse College of Medicine, where he graduated with honors and was a member of the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He is board certified in urology by the American Board of Urology.
Dr. Kotha has privileges at Beaumont Wayne Hospital, Beaumont Taylor Hospital, Beaumont Dearborn Hospital and St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia, Michigan. He is a member of the American Urologic Association and the Michigan Urologic Society. He specializes in general urology with a heavy focus on minimally invasive treatments of kidney stone disease and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
Since he started practicing in southeast Michigan in 2007, Dr. Kotha and his practice partners have been at the forefront of utilizing the Greenlight Laser as a minimally invasive outpatient surgical treatment for BPH (enlarged prostate). In addition, he has recently incorporated Rezum therapy as another minimally invasive treatment modality for BPH. Rezūm Therapy is an in-office treatment for men looking to treat BPH, not just the symptoms. Rezum uses natural water vapor to reduce the size of the prostate and provide lasting symptom relief from BPH symptoms without invasive surgery or the potential side effects of prescription drugs.
In addition to operating at the above named hospitals, Dr. Kotha performs complex outpatient kidney stone surgeries as well the Greenlight laser procedure at the Surgical Institute of Michigan in Westland, Michigan.
When not providing urologic care, Dr. Kotha spends time with his wife and three daughters. He enjoys reading, running, traveling, and playing golf.
