Biography

My name is David Wenzler and I am a lifelong resident of southeastern Michigan. I was born in Grosse Pointe, and like many metro-Detroiters, I gradually made the trek westward with my family to Birmingham and then Brighton.  I received my undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) in 2003.  I remained in Ann Arbor for my medical degree, completing that in 2007.  My urology residency was completed at Beaumont Health in Royal Oak, MI in 2013. I took a break from a Michigan winter when I moved to San Diego, CA to complete my fellowship in robotic surgery and stone disease at the University of California San Diego.

I currently work out of offices in Southfield, Novi and Farmington Hills.  I am on staff at Ascension Providence Hospitals in Southfield and Novi.  My surgical interests include urologic endoscopy, stone procedures and minimally invasive surgery. I actively manage metabolic stone disease, with a specific interest in preventing stones (which can be quite inconvenient to those who suffer from them).  Academically, I continue with clinical research and enjoy teaching my residents as Assistant Program Director of the urology residency out of Ascension Macomb Oakland.

I am a fitness enthusiast-especially enjoying swimming (both lap and open water) and indoor cycling.  With the rest of my free time, I enjoy all things Michigan sports, golf, and spending time with my wife, two kids, and French Bulldog Lola.  Time permitting, I’ll practice my German, which I am currently conversational in and hope to improve upon.
